The Fall Retreat is an opportunity for teens to take a step back from their busy lives and reconnect with God and each other through prayer, small groups, and fun.
This retreat is open to 9th-12th graders. Space is limited, so register soon!
Teens today are constantly tapped into the digital world, and studies show that screen time is a major contributor to rising rates of anxiety & depression among young people.
In light of this, we have decided to do a digital detox on this retreat to help the teens truly disconnect from the things that are keeping them from relationship, both with God and each other. This means that all phones, headphones, smartwatches and other devices will be collected for the duration of the weekend and returned at the end of the trip. We do allow cameras if they want to take pictures.
We do understand that some parents may have concerns about safety. The youth ministers will have phones on them if you need to reach your teen, and teens will have access to landlines in the cabin if they need to get ahold of you. In case of emergency, we will return their phone.
This year, we will be staying at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park.
We have an 8 bedroom, hotel style cabin. Rooms sleep 4-6 teens and have a bathroom in each. Bedding and linens are provided. Guys and girls will be housed on separate floors.
We will prepare our own meals in the cabin kitchen. Please make sure to note any dietary needs on the registration.
Teens are expected to be kind and respectful toward each other, their chaperones, all other YMCA staff and guests.
Teens are expected to be respectful of YMCA property and to exercise safe behaviors.
Behavior that endangers the teen, or anyone else will not be tolerated.
No drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vapes, weapons, or pornographic material will be tolerated.
Teens are not allowed to enter an opposite gender room, or to be alone with an un-related teen of the opposite gender.
Teens may not wander off on their own or leave YMCA property.
Teens must stay in groups and receive permission from the chaperones to leave the cabin.
Cell phones, earphones, smart watches, and other devices will be collected.
If teens violate the policies or other rules, the group leader reserves the right to call parents and send teens home at their discretion. Less severe offenses will result in loss of free time or sitting out of certain activities.
