What is a Quinceañera?
- What is a Quinceañera?
  
  A quinceañera is a traditional celebration of a girl's fifteenth year and marks her transition from childhood to adulthood.
  The roots of the tradition go back to both Indigenous American and Spanish cultural traditions and, over time, gained a religious aspect as parents brought their daughters to church to give thanks for her.
  The tradition gained popularity in the United States through the 20th century, and, in 2004, the USCCB approved a liturgy for blessing quinceañeras during a Mass of Thanksgiving.
  
  It is important to note that quinceañeras are not sacraments, and do not take the place of sacraments, but are an opportunity for young women to renew and strengthen her relationship with God and her commitment to the sacraments.

  Immaculate Heart of Mary offers monthly group quinceañera masses or blessings for our parishioners to celebrate young women turning 15.
  Upon completion of the preparation course, families can sign up for one of our monthly quinceañera masses. These masses will be shared with any other girls who sign up for the date.
  
  Due to volume, we no longer offer private quinceañera masses.

  Quinceañera Masses will be at 11:00am on the second Saturday of each month. The Masses are bilingual. We provide musicians.

  Booking Requirements:
  Quinceañera must have received the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and first communion (documentation required)
  Quinceañera must complete the quinceañera preparation course prior to booking
  Fees:
  $350 church fee
  $100 celebrant stipend
  $50 preparation course fee

  Prior to signing up for a Quinceañera Mass, girls and mothers must complete our preparation program. This is an 8 week program using the Created for God/Creada Para Dios curriculum. Classes will be mostly in English, with bilingual leaders.
