We say that “Jesus Christ is Risen!” Please note that this statement is in the present tense. That means the resurrected Jesus is still with us.
This weekend is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. Yes, Jesus is still with us! He is with us at every mass we celebrate. “The real presence” means that in reality Jesus makes his dwelling in us when we receive him as Holy Communion.
Something greater happiness to us. We have divine assistance in our moral decision making. We feel his comfort and consolation in the midst of our struggles. We develop a “God Consciousness.”
There are layers of meaning to this mystery and at the practical level we are in, a real sense, in the Body of Christ. We started with Baptism and we grow in that truth every time we receive Holy Communion.
Having mutual respect for each other means that we love one another. We all have roles to play in the community. Our place in this order helps us to the know what to do and to believe. I have a place in that order as a priest that serves here. Celebrating the mass with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish community is an honor and a joy. Under the leadership of our Pastor, Fr Ernest, our liturgies move us to remember why we are here and what we are to remember. We are here to experience of closeness and love of Jesus in a very real way. We are to express our love to one another.
We remember how he loved us to the point of dying for us. This selfless act frees us from our sins. Our gratitude is reflected in our devote reception of the Eucharist. Our response in good stewardship is to serve the community in love.
Being a Stewardship Parish is the kind of spirituality that means that our being part of this parish matters. We want to make it better by helping out. Being welcoming is a hallmark of of Stewardship.
Everybody is in a different place in their religion. Our acceptance and welcome is an act of love that builds up the body of Christ.
On this celebration on the Body and the Blood of Christ we are asked to renew our commitment to being in the Body of Christ. We need to renew why we are here and get our priorities in place. Coming to meet Jesus at mass needs to be our focus. I always find it curious when I here people say “They don’t get anything out of Mass.” My response is what did you put into the mass.? When we come with the practical level of understanding of finding Jesus in Communion and in each other, then Stewardship makes it easy to love one another the way Christ loves us.
